9 Hawkeyes Named to NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Nine University of Iowa field hockey student-athletes have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad, it was announced Thursday by the NFHCA.

Iowa’s honorees include Hillary Cox, Harper Dunne, Mary Jane McNary, Anthe Nijziel, Amelia Short, Ciara Smith, Lokke Stribos, Sofie Stribos and Jacey Wittel.

The honors are the fifth consecutive for Nijziel and Lokke Stribos and it is the fourth career nod for Sofie Stribos. Smith, Dunne and McNary have been three-time honorees, while it was the second career academic nod for Cox and Wittel.

The NFHCA National Academic Squad honors undergraduate collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach.

Iowa advanced to the Elite Eight for the 21st time in program history during the 2022 season, where it finished with a 12-8 overall record.
