IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa sophomore Daianne Hayashida will travel to Cary, North Carolina, to compete at the 2023 ITA Women’s All-American Championships. The tournament, which will be held at the Cary Tennis Park, features the nation’s top NCAA Division I student-athletes.
Hayashida will open the tournament Saturday, facing Clemson’s Cristina Mayorova in the Round of 128 at 9:45 a.m. (CT). A victory would move Hayashida to the Round of 64, where she would square off against Arizona State’s Giulia Morlet or Austin Peay’s Jana Leder.
It is the second time in three years that Iowa has been represented in the main draw at the ITA All-American Championships. Alexa Noel and Samantha Mannix represented the Hawkeyes at the event in 2021 with Noel advancing to the singles finals.
HEAR FROM HEAD COACH SASHA SCHMID
“I’m really excited that Dai has this opportunity to go out to All-American’s and compete against some of the most elite players in college tennis, I think it’s an opportunity that is well deserved. She’s beginning her sophomore year in a great place after a really strong freshman year at the University of Iowa and we’re really proud that she’s representing our program.”
