  • The Hawkeyes are 2-0 in trophy games in 2023, winning the Cy-Hawk Trophy and Heartland Trophy in victories over Iowa State and Wisconsin. Iowa will play a second straight trophy game on Saturday, battling Minnesota for the Floyd of Rosedale. The Hawkeyes are 26-8 in their last 34 rivalry trophy games.
  • Leading into Saturday’s game against Minnesota, Floyd of Rosedale has resided in Iowa City for 2,898 consecutive days.
  • Iowa won its sixth game of the season on Oct. 14 in Madison to become bowl eligible for the 22nd time in the last 23 seasons under head coach Kirk Ferentz.
  • Iowa returns to the national rankings for the first time since Week 4. The Hawkeyes are ranked 24th by the Associated Press and 23rd in the Coaches’ Poll. The team has been ranked or receiving votes in one of the polls each week of the season.
  • Saturday is the ANF Black & Gold Spirit Game inside Kinnick Stadium. Iowa will recognize 2023 ANF Wall of Honor recipient Bryan Bulaga during the game.
  • Head coach Kirk Ferentz has 118 career Big Ten victories, only trailing Ohio State’s Woody Hayes (153) and Michigan’s Bo Schembechler (143). He won his 200th career game on Sept. 9 at Iowa State, becoming the 27th coach to reach the milestone at an FBS institution and just the 99th college coach across all divisions since 1890.
  • P Tory Taylor earned Big Ten weekly honors (special teams) for a second consecutive week after punting 10 times for a career-high 506 yards in the road win at Wisconsin. Taylor had five punts of 50+ yards, including two 60+ yarders, and six were downed inside the 20-yard line. It is Taylor’s fifth career Big Ten honor.
  • RB Leshon Williams rushed for a career-high 174 yards — his second career 100-yard game — and one touchdown in the road win at Wisconsin. He had an 82-yard touchdown run — Iowa’s longest rush since 1997, tied for the ninth longest in program history and the longest all-time against Wisconsin. It is the fifth longest run in the nation this season.
  • Williams enters Saturday’s game 60 yards shy of 1,000 career rushing yards.
  • The Hawkeye rushing attack has churned out 381 yards over the last two games (181 vs. Purdue, 200 at Wisconsin), averaging 190.5 yards per game. Iowa has had two different 100-yard rushers — a first for the program since 2020 (Tyler Goodson, Mekhi Sargent). Iowa’s 200 yards were the most against Wisconsin since 2008.
  • Walking wounded. Three of Iowa’s most prominent offensive players — QB Cade McNamara, TE Luke Lachey and TE Erick All — are sidelined. McNamara and Lachey are out for the season, while All left the Wisconsin game in the first quarter with an injury and did not return.
