Kent in Second, Hawkeyes in Eighth at Puerto Rico Classic

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The University of Iowa men’s golf team concluded day two of play of the Puerto Rico Classic on Monday at Grand Reserve Golf Club. The Hawkeyes are in eighth place at 18-under par (274/284).

Freshman Noah Kent remains in contention as he currently sits in second place at 11-under par. After firing a record round yesterday Kent backed it up with another below par round. Kent shot 2-under par on Monday after shooting 9-under par on Sunday. Kent is just one stroke back from the leader.

Sophomore Hogan Hansen finds himself in a tie for 20th place at 6-under par. Hansen fired another 3-under par round on Monday after doing the same on Sunday. Graduate student Josh Lundmark is tied for 42nd place at 3-under par.

Junior Ian Meyer, competing individually, moved up 27 spots on the leaderboard to 42nd place. Meyer shot 4-under par on Monday to get to 3-under par for the tournament. Meyer led the Hawkeyes with six birdies.

“Noah did a great job today. Following up a low round is one of the hardest things to do in golf. He managed it very well and put himself in contention.”
