GymHawks Conclude Competition at B1G Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team posted a score of 193.975 at the B1G Championships on Saturday afternoon inside of the Jenison Field House. As a team, the Hawkeyes finished 10th.

FLOOR

The GymHawks posted a team score of 48.850 in the first rotation. Freshman Alyse Karenbauer started the meet off strong for Iowa, earning a 9.825. Eva Volpe took the floor to compete in her first Big Ten Championships, adding another 9.825 to the board. Sophomore Hanna Castillo recorded a third 9.825 on the floor for the Hawkeyes. In the anchor position, sophomore Bailey Libby performed a near-perfect 9.900 routine to tie for seventh overall. It was the fifth time this season that Libby posted a 9.900 in the event.

VAULT

In the second rotation, Iowa recorded a team score of 48.900. Gianna Masella landed a strong 9.800 in the apparatus. Junior Marissa Rojas made her 2024 debut and registered another 9.800 for the GymHawks. Volpe posted her second 9.825 of the day. Karenbauer received a 9.750 in the rotation.

BARS

The GymHawks earned a team score of 48.675 on uneven bars. Ilka Juk performed a noteworthy 9.775 at the beginning of the rotation. Volpe earned a 9.775 to keep things rolling for the Hawkeyes, and Masella registered another 9.775.

BEAM

In the final rotation of the day, the Hawkeyes compiled a team score of 47.550 to secure their overall score of 193.975 on the day. Volpe started off the rotation with a 9.775. Juk registered a stunning 9.850 to wrap things up for Iowa, tying for 13th overall in the apparatus.
