IOWA CITY, IOWA – The University of Iowa rowing squad wrapped up a strong day of racing against Drake and community members along the Iowa River in front of family and friends.
The Hawkeyes raced in four different heats that went off throughout the morning. Rowers were assigned to boats in either pairs, fours or eights racing 4000 meters in a time trial format.
The Hawkeyes will be back in action on Nov. 9 at Ohio State on Griggs Reservoir.
Hear from Head Coach Jeff Garbutt
“The best part of the weekend was the opportunity for our athletes to showcase their craft and skill to their family and friends. The freshmen did a great job competing and racing hard with our returners leading the way. It was a great opportunity to have Drake out and race against another Division I program. The Iowa Chase is a great example of what the sport of rowing can do, showcasing talent at all ages.”
