SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – The Wollongong Hawks professional team used a strong inside game to score a 133-124 win over the University of Iowa, dropping Iowa’s record to 1-1 on its five-game exhibition tour.
Iowa’s offensive attack was balanced, as six players scored in double figures. Pierre Pierce led the Hawkeyes in scoring with 23 points, while Jeff Horner added 21, Glen Worley scored 19, Brody Boyd and Jared Reiner each scored 17 and Greg Brunner added 12. Reiner led Iowa with 12 rebounds while Brunner had nine and Pierce eight.
Iowa shot 45% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range and 81.3% from the free throw line and won the rebounding battle by a 60-52 margin.
Iowa will travel to Brisbane for games on Sunday and Monday.
