EAST LANSING, MI – Iowa sophomore Chaitu Malempati was eliminated from the second round of the ITA Omni Orrington Regionals qualifying draw Friday morning after a 7-5, 6-3 loss to fourth-seeded Michael Heule of Ball State.
Malempati will return to action tomorrow when he teams with sophomore Parker Ross in doubles competition. Ross will also compete in main draw singles. The Hawkeyes have changed their doubles pairings from earlier this week and freshmen Jonny Hoak and Walter Valarezo and sophomore Aaron Schaechterle and freshman Ryan Reid will compete tomorrow.
