IOWA CITY, IA –

The University of Iowa wrestling team defeated Penn State, 23-11, Friday night in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa won seven matches, including two by major decision, while Penn State won three, one of which scored team bonus points. The Hawkeyes improve to 8-3, 3-1 in the Big Ten, while the Nittany Lions fall to 8-4, 1-2 in the conference.

Hawkeye senior Luke Eustice started the meet off at 125 pounds with a 10-6 decision over Penn State’s Adam Smith, improving to 17-1 overall and 9-0 in dual competition. Josh Moore put Penn State on the board at 133 with his 15-0 technical fall over Hawkeye Trent Goodale. Iowa rolled through the next five weights, including senior Cliff Moore’s 12-4 major decision at 141 pounds. Moore improved to 20-2 overall and 10-1 in duals with the win. Sophomore Ty Eustice also collected his 45th career win at 149. Penn State’s Eric Bradley slowed the Hawkeye momentum with a 6-4 win over Paul Bradley at 184, but Hawkeye senior Ryan Fulsaas sealed Iowa’s team win with a 13-4 major decision at 197. Hawkeye redshirt freshman Ryan Fuller posted a solid effort at heavyweight, dropping a 6-1 decision to top-ranked Pat Cummins of Penn State.
