IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa divers Lisette Planken and Nancilea Underwood, who are both redshirting the 2003-04 season to train for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, have had strong performances in recent competition. Both will be juniors next fall for the Hawkeyes.
Planken has already qualified for the Olympics in the three-meter event. The Amersfoort, Netherlands, native placed 21st in three-meter diving at the 2004 World Cup in Athens in February, to qualify for the Olympics.
Underwood, from Spring, TX, placed fourth in the three-meter event at the American World Cup in January. She will be diving at the America’s Cup April 9-11 in Minneapolis, and the U.S. Olympic Trials, June 11-13 in St. Louis, MO.
