The University of Iowa’s men’s basketball program averaged 12,977 fans at 14 home games during the 2003-04 season, a figure that ranked 23rd in the nation among NCAA Division I institutions.
Last season marked the 22nd consecutive season in which Iowa basketball ranked among the top 25 in the nation in home attendance. Iowa and Indiana are the only two Big Ten Conference schools who have ranked among the top 25 in home attendance each year since 1978 (The NCAA kept only a top 10 prior to 1978).
Overall, the Big Ten Conference led the nation for the 28th straight season, averaging 12,779 at 167 home games during the season. Six Big Ten programs ranked in the top 25, with Iowa’s total again ranking above the conference average.
