Lights! Camera! Action!

Dec. 1, 2004

The Iowa wrestling team’s dual meet Sunday against intrastate rival Iowa State — another of the events in the new Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series — will be the first event in Iowa Public Television’s 29th season of college wrestling coverage on the statewide television network.

IPTV is showcasing seven top collegiate matches with coverage and expert commentary from several wrestling legends. Tim Johnson returns as IPTV’s play-by-play announcer; legendary wrestler and former UI coach Dan Gable returns as analyst; and national champion wrestler and former Iowa State coach Jim Gibbons returns as the matside reporter for the season.

College Wrestling can be seen statewide on all IPTV stations. The two dual meets originating from Iowa City — Sunday’s Iowa-Iowa State match and the Feb. 11 date between Iowa and Minnesota — will also be avialable live via the world wide web — a first for hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes powered by McLeodUSA.

Iowa currently holds a 3-2 advantage in the new Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. That score will change this week with three Series events scheduled in the next five days — all on the UI campus.
