University of Iowa baseball player Andy Cox has been named co-Big Ten Player of the Week. The announcement came from the Big Ten Conference office.
Cox, a senior from Scottsdale, AZ, had a monster weekend at the plate, blasting four home runs in three games while leading Iowa to a 3-0 record. He went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored against Toledo, 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in game one against Rider, then went 3-of-4 with a pair of homers in Monday’s rematch with Rider.
Cox shared the honors with Indiana’s Jay Brant, who went 12-for-15 with five RBIs and three stolen bases in four games.
Iowa (4-4) will play North Florida tonight at 6 p.m.
