GOODYEAR, AZ – The University of Iowa Men’s Golf team finished 13th in the Pioneer Classic played Tuesday and Wednesday at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Course. The Hawkeyes finished with a 54-hole team score of 887. Wichita State (821) won the tournament by 37 strokes over second-place Northern Colorado (858).
Two of Iowa’s top finishers competed as individuals, so their scores did not count towards the Hawkeyes’ team total. Sophomore Bennet Hammerberg tied for 31st with a two-over par 218 (72-74-72), while freshman Dan Holterhaus tied for 35th with a three-over par 219 (73-74-72). Sophomore Todd Larson also tied for 35th with a three-over par 219 (72-71-76). Junior Luke Miller tied for 43rd with a five-over par 221 (72-75-74). Wichita State’s Judd Easterling won the tournament start-to-finish, carding a blistering 21-under par 195 (66-65-64).
Iowa returns to the links when the Hawkeyes compete in the Boilermaker Invitational, April 15-17 in West Lafayette, IN.
