Gudex Named Co-Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

April 11, 2005

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa baseball player Tim Gudex has been named co-Big Ten Pircher of the Week. The announcement came from the Big Ten Conference office.

Gudex, a junior closer from Appleton, WI, earned the save in all three Iowa wins last weekend against Michigan. He gave up just three hits in four appearances on the week, striking out four. He shared the award with Penn State’s Alan Stidfole, who struck out a career-high 13 and walked just one in a nine-inning shutout of Northwestern.

Gudex is the first Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Senior Andy Cox was named co-Big Ten Player of the Week on March 15.

Iowa (9-15, 5-3) will host Northern Iowa tomorrow at Banks Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
