Hawkeyes Place Seventh At Big Tens

BLOOMINGTON, IN

The University of Iowa Women’s Rowing team finished the 2005 Big Ten Championships in seventh place. The competition was strong with five of the six Big Ten teams Iowa competed against ranked. The Hawkeyes tallied a final score of 22, with Michigan State finishing first with a score of 130.

The 20th ranked V8+ boat consisted of Vanessa Sheehan, Jessica McBride, Lydia McGee, Michelle Trannel, Marije Van Amersfoort, Emily Vail, Carolyn O’Meara, Emily Wagstrom and Nikki Stob. They finished fourth with a time 6:44.14 in their first race and third with a time of 6:40.72 in their second race. Other boats that competed were N8+, V4+, and 2V8+.

Iowa will return to action at the Central Regionals on May 14, in Oakridge, TN.
