THIS WEEK — The Iowa men’s golf team will travel to St. Louis, MO, to compete in the Missouri Bluffs Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesday at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament will have 36 holes of play on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. The 18-hole Missouri Bluffs Golf Club is par 71 and 7,047 yards long.

THE COMPETITION — Iowa will compete against Arkansas State, Belmont, Drake, DePaul, Iowa State, Louisiana-Layayette, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Texas and Saint Louis.

LAST TIME OUT — Iowa finished the Memphis Intercollegiate in fourth place. They shot a solid round of two-under-par 286 which helped them jump from ninth to fourth on the final day. Cole Peevler led Iowa with an 11th place finish shooting +3 for the tournament.

THIS WEEK’S LINEUPCole Peevler and Brian deBuhr have already qualified to travel to the tournament. The final three spots will be determined by a qualifier held on Friday. Eight golfers will be competing for the three spots.

FRESHMAN LEADING TEAMCole Peevler is listed as Iowa’s No. 1 golfer for the Missouri Bluffs Intercollegiate. Peevler leads Iowa in average (70.8), low round (65), best finish (T2nd), top 20 finishes (3) and top 10 finishes (2). He also has the best finish for a Hawkeye the last two tournaments.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 13th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004.

QUOTING COACH ANDERSON — “We did a nice job in the final round and performed well that day. However, we made too many mistakes on the first day and we need to work on our consistency and having three solid rounds.”
