EAST LANSING, MI – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team competed today in the third day of the Big Ten Indoor Singles Tournament. All Hawkeyes in competition lost and were eliminated from the tournament.
Freshman Christian Bierich was the only Hawkeye to survive yesterday’s competition in the championship bracket. Today, he was defeated by Polley of Wisconsin, 6-4, 7-6 (1).
Iowa had three players competing in the consolation bracket. Senior Chaitu Malempati was defeated by Aarts of Michigan, 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore J.P. Ritchie was defeated by Green of Ohio State, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Sophomore Bart van Monsjou was defeated by Kenner of Indiana, 6-4, 6-4.
This tournament concluded the Hawkeyes’ fall season. They will return to action on Jan. 29 when they face Northern Illinois.
