CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The Iowa women’s tennis team dominated Marquette tonight, winning 7-0 at Clark Racquet Center in Cedar Rapids.
Junior Meg Racette and freshman Merel Beelen defeated Lauren Little and Erin Watkins in the first doubles match, 8-2 and Kayla Berry and Krissy Dowlin defeated Robin Metzler and Kathleen Donovan, 8-6. Marquette’s line-up was thin due to illness and injury, resulting in Jacqueline Lee and Mili Veselinovic at the #3 position to win their doubles match by default.
Heading into singles play, Iowa was ahead 3-0, and Lee clinched the match for Iowa with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Andrea Bukacek. Hillary Mintz, Veselinovic, and Racette were also all successful in their singles matches, while Beelen and Dowlin won by default at the #5 and #6 positions.
