THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will travel to Minneapolis, MN for this week’s competitions. The Hawkeyes will face Minnesota, Friday, at 6 p.m. and then Dartmouth, Saturday, at 12 p.m. Competition will take place at the Baseline Tennis Center.
THE HAWKEYES— The Hawkeyes are currently ranked 48th, with a 2-2 record. Individually, Meg Racette is currently No. 21 and Mili Veselinovic No. 93 in singles rankings. Others expected to compete for the Hawkeyes are Krissy Dowlin, Merel Beelen, Jacqueline Lee, Hillary Mintz, and Kayla Berry.
THE COMPETITION — Minnesota is currently 1-3 for the season. Senior Nischela Reddy is ranked 87th nationally. Dartmouth has a 2-1 record. There are no nationally ranked players on Dartmouth’s team.
LAST TIME VS. MINNESOTA — No. 58 Iowa hosted No. 69 Minnesota in 2005, winning 5-2. Iowa earned the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Iowa won four-of-six singles matches and Meg Racette upset No. 74 Nischela Reddy, 6-2, 6-4. Iowa is 17-26 all-time vs. Minnesota.
LAST TIME VS. DARTMOUTH — This will be Iowa’s first time competing against Dartmouth.
LAST MEET — The Hawkeyes traveled to Colorado February 3rd and 4th, facing Denver and Colorado State. Iowa fell to Denver, 5-2, before defeating Colorado State, 6-1. Jacqueline Lee had the sole win for Iowa in singles competition against Denver, defeating Marisa Mechem 7-5, 6-2. Against Colorado State, Iowa won all but one match in the competition.
HEAD COACH Daryl Greenan–Coach Greenan is in his second season as head coach for the Hawkeyes. He led the Hawkeyes to a 14-10 overall record in 2005, going 8-4 in Big Ten competition for a fourth place finish in the conference. Toni Neykova is the assistant coach and begins her fourth season with the Hawkeyes.
