Hawkeyes Host Golf Outing

March 29, 2006

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa Baseball team will host the first annual Iowa Baseball Golf Outing on April 28th at Finkbine Golf Course before the Iowa-Northwestern game at Banks Field. Registration and lunch begins at 10:30 a.m., with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start for the four-person best-shot tournament.

The cost is $100 per person or $400 per foursome. That fee includes green fees, cart, lunch and an appreciation gift. First, second and third-place teams will receive prizes, and there will be flag prizes on every hole.

This past fall, current Hawkeye pitcher Casey O’ Rourke was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and proceeds of this event will be split between the University of Iowa Baseball program and the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Part of the revenue from Friday night’s gate will also be donated to the Holden Center.
