The Big Ten Conference men’s basketball team concluded its foreign tour with a 145-69 win over the South District Spartans Wednesday. The Big Ten team heads back to the United States after posting a 3-1 record, winning its final three games after an opening loss.
Iowa junior center Seth Gorney was one of eight Big Ten players to score in double figures. Gorney scored 12 points, hitting 5-6 field goals and 2-3 free throws. Gorney also added eight rebounds and two blocked shots in his best outing of the four-game tour. He averaged 5.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in the four games.
The 145 points scored by the Big Ten team established a scoring record for Big Ten Tour teams, besting the previous best of 141 points scored during the 1992 tour. The Big Ten squad shot 66.3% from the field.
Michigan’s Lester Abram led the Big Ten scoring with 22 points (9-9 FGs). Marcus Arnold of Illinois and Purdue’s Gordon Watt each added 18 points and Ohio State’s Ron Lewis scored 16.
