THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will host the 2006 Hawkeye Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start Saturday and an 8:30 shotgun start Sunday. Competition will consist of 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.
FINKBINE GOLF COURSE — Finkbine Golf Course opened in 1955 and is the home course for the University of Iowa men’s golf team. Covering 7,041 yards, the course has been named by Golf Digest as one of the top 10 courses in Iowa.
THE COMPETITION — Teams competing along with Iowa include Evansville, Drake, Western Illinois, South Dakota State, Loyola of Chicago, St. Ambrose, Wright State and Illinois State.
HAWKEYE INTERCOLLEGIATE HISTORY — Last year, Iowa finished second at even par (293-287-284=864). Western Illinois shot 19 under par and won the tournament (275-283-287=845). Iowa’s highest finisher was second-place Todd Larson (72-67-69=208, -8).

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 14th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004.
