IOWA CITY– The University of Iowa women’s golf team is in first place after playing 36-holes at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate on Saturday at Finkbine Golf Course. The Hawkeyes finished two rounds with a score of 610. Missouri State University is in second with a score of 629.
Senior Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD) leads the tournament, carding a 148 +4. Team captain and senior Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) is in fourth, carding a 152 +8. Last year’s medalist, sophomore Tyrette Metzendorf (Winter Haven, FL) stands in fifth after two rounds (154 +10). Junior Jill Marcum (Clarinda, IA) carded a 12 over par, 156, and is tied for seventh. Sophomore Melanie Boyles (Tempe, AZ) carded a 16 over par, 16, and is tied for 12th. Sophomore Becky Quinby (Plymouth, MN) is tied for 26th (168 +24).
Iowa is the defending champion and will play the remaining 18-holes tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Finkbine Golf Course.
