The University of Iowa field hockey team posted a shutout against the West Chester Golden Rams, the alma mater of Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum. Griesbaum graduated from West Chester in 1989 and was a two-time national all-American for the Golden Rams. The 2-0 win improves Iowa’s record to 2-4 and drops West Chester to 1-5.

Midfielder Heather Schnepf played a part in both Iowa goals, making one goal herself and assisting on the other. On the defensive side, Schnepf had her first defensive save of the year.

During the fifth minute of play, Lauren Pfeiffer received a pass from Schnepf and was able to sneak the ball into the goal, making the score 1-0. The goal was Pfeiffer’s first points of the season. Both teams were held scoreless for the final 30 minutes of the half.

The Hawkeyes scored their final goal when Schnepf took a pass from Roz Ellis and shot the ball past the West Chester goalkeeper during the 48th minute. The goal was Schnepf’s first of the season.
