Sept. 27, 2006

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa women’s tennis player Mili Veselinovic will travel to Pacific Palisades, CA, for the ITA Riviera All-American Championships, October 3-8. Competition will take place at the Riviera Tennis Club. Sixty-four players will compete in qualifying matches to be played Tuesday and Wednesday. Eight winners will advance to the main draw, which begins Thursday.

Veselinovic is ranked 57th in preseason rankings. The junior went 3-1 at the Gopher Invitational, Sept. 15-17, claiming third place in the top flight.

“Mili had several big wins last season which earned her one of the highest pre-season rankings in Iowa history. Her top 60 national ranking earned her a spot in the qualifying draw at the first of three national events for the year,” said Iowa Head Coach Daryl Greenan. “It is a big deal for Iowa to have representation at these prestigious events. Mili has worked hard and always competes with amazing energy. I expect big things from her in California and this season.”
