The Black and Gold teams split the final two games of the 2006 Black and Gold World Series Friday and Saturday. The Gold squad won game two, 5-3, Friday to capture the title. The Black team rebounded to take the final game 4-2 Saturday.
In Friday’s game, the Gold got a strong performance from Steve Turnbull, who threw five solid innings. Kyle Riffel had a pair of hits for the Gold, while Justin Toole had a pair of hits for the Black. Joe Singer recorded the save for the Gold, while George Rasiarmos was saddled with the loss.
In the final game, Nick Erdman picked up the win for the Black team. Nick Muhlenbruch had a pair of hits, while Scott Brune picked up the save.
