THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will open the spring season by traveling to Guadalajara, Mexico, to compete in the North Texas Classic, February 18-19. Competition will begin Sunday with 36 holes and conclude Monday with 18 holes.

THE COURSE — Competition will be played at El Palomar Country Club. The 6,900-yard course is a par 72.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS — In addition to Iowa, the following teams will be competing at the North Texas Classic: University of North Texas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Cal State Northridge, Houston, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee and the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

LAST TIME OUT — The Hawkeyes finished ninth at the 49er Collegiate Classic with a team score of 921. Junior Scot Glasford carded a 228 and placed 22nd and senior Jon Feldick followed close behind in 25th with a score of 229. Senior Bennet Hammerberg, juniors Dan Holterhaus and Adam Miller, and sophomore Zack Anderson rounded out the Hawkeye delegation.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 14th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004. Anderson is assisted by Adam Kaufman.
