Three Hawkeyes Named CRCA Scholar Athletes

Three members from the University of Iowa women’s rowing team have been named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association 2007 scholar athletes. Junior Brittany Keyes, senior Emily Lewis, and sophomore Melissa Wordelman all earned this honor.

These student-athletes have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and have raced at the varsity level for the majority of the year. Keyes is an Athlete Training major, has compiled a GPA of 3.72 and was a member of first varsity eight for most of the 2006-2007 fall and spring season. Lewis has built a 3.55 GPA in a double major, International Studies and Political Sciences. She has been the coxswain for both the first and second varsity eight for the Hawkeyes this year. The youngest of the trio, Wordelman, is also a double major in Art and International Studies and has maintained a GPA of 3.71. Wordelman has been a member of the first and second varsity eight for two years for the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes ended their season taking three victories in three different events in Final C at the Aramark/Central Regionals and a sixth place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
