THIS WEEK
The Iowa Hawkeye women’s golf team returns to Iowa City for the 34th annual Hawkeye Invitational. It will be their only home tournament of the season.
THE COMPETITION
Besides Iowa, 12 other schools will send teams to Iowa City: Cincinnati, Creighton, Jacksonville State, Longwood, Minnesota, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, UT-Chattanooga, UT-San Antonio, Western Illinois and Wisconsin.
The tournament will be played at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City. Par is 72 and the total yardage is 6,202. Play will begin with 36 holes and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday. The meet concludes with 18 holes, and an 8 a.m., split tee start on Sunday.
LINEUP
The exact order will be determined Saturday, but playing for Iowa will be seniors Melanie Boyles and Jill Marcum, juniorsTyrette Metzendorf and Becky Quinby and freshman Amanda Stahl.
LAST COMPETITION
The Hawkeyes finished tied for ninth at the Lady Northern Invitational in State College, PA, on September 23. Metzendorf broke a school record for 18 holes by shooting a 68.
HAWKEYE INVITATIONAL HISTORY
Iowa has won the last three Hawkeye Invitationals and have won eight since it began in 1975. There were no tournaments played in 1992 and 2003.

“I’m liking the home-course advantage. I think to win this tournament, we’ve got to start off stronger in our first 18 holes and play with more consistency. We have to use our knowledge of the course and minimize mistakes to be successful.”
