In the women’s club eights the Hawkeyes finished in sixth with a time of 17:38.597, just behind Villanova University. Out of 52 entries, the University of Tennessee finished in first place with a final time of 17:16.740. Guiding the Hawkeyes up the Charles River was freshman coxswain Margaret Krusing. “Our time improved tremendously this year,” Hawkeye Head Coach Mandi Kowal said. “The splits were about five seconds faster from our last race here…we posted our fastest time we have ever got here.” Overall Kowal was pleased with her team’s performance. “The team had a really strong presence about them and I was really proud,” said Kowal.

The Hawkeyes will return to the water tomorrow, racing in the women’s championship eights, for the second day of competition in the Head of the Charles Regatta.
