The University of Iowa wrestling team held its first round of wrestle-offs Thursday afternoon in the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. At 133 pounds, sophomore Thomas Magnani scored a 21-9 major decision over freshman Tyler Halverson. At 165 pounds, freshman Weston Marling defeated freshman Ryan Kurovski, 8-6.
The Hawkeyes will hold the semifinal matches Friday at 3:30 p.m. and the finals Saturday at 9 a.m. All matches will be held at the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and are open to the public. Admission is free.
