This Week
The 31st-ranked University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team will compete at Southeast Missouri State, Saturday. Competition will take place at Houck Fieldhouse and will begin at 2 p.m. SE Missouri State is ranked 23rd nationally. The Hawkeyes have a 10-15 all-time record against the Redhawks.
Last Competition
Iowa lost a close match to Illinois, 193.650-192.975. Jen Simbhudas earned the bars crown with a 9.825. On vault, Simbhudas finished second with a 9.85 and placed third on beam with a 9.75. Simbhudas placed second in the all-around, scoring 38.975.
On vault, junior Kara Pinjuv earned a 9.775 to place third. On bars, the Hawkeyes claimed three of the top four spots including a second-place tie between Brandi Loffer and Katie Burke with 9.775

Iowa is ranked 31st nationally with a 3-3 record, while Simbhudas is ranked fourth in the Big Ten all-around with an average 39.017. Iowa’s high team total in 2008 is 193.625.
Head Coach Larissa Libby
In four years as Iowa Head Coach, Larissa Libby has recorded a 23-45 record. Before becoming head coach, Libby was Iowa’s associate head coach for one year and an assistant coach the previous three seasons. While associate head coach, Libby helped lead the GymHawks to a school record 49.425 beam performance in 2004. In addition to the record breaking performance, the 2004 GymHawks recorded a 49.0 or higher seven times on beam under Libby’s guidance.
Next Competition
The Hawkeyes will host Ohio State, February 9th at 7 p.m. Competition will take place at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The meet will be shown on the Big Ten Network, February 14th at 6 p.m.
