NOTRE DAME, IN – The University of Iowa men’s golf team finished the final round at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic today. Iowa recorded the fourth-lowest 18-hole score on the day with a 289 (+9). The Hawkeyes finished seventh out of 16 teams with a 54-hole score of 892 (+52). Arkansas took the tournament with an 863 (+23).
The Hawkeyes saw a new leader this week in Vince India. The sophomore recorded a 54-hole score of 218 (+8) to finish in a tie for 12th. India’s ten birdies throughout the tournament were the second-most shot by any golfer in the tournament. Senior Cole Peevler shot a 221 (+11) which gave him a share of 20th place. Barrett Kelpin finished in a tie for 47th place. The freshman carded a 228 (+18). Sophomore Brad Hopfinger finished in a tie for 50th after firing a 229 (+19). Additionally, Brad George shot a 223 (+23) and finished the tournament tied at 67th.
The Hawkeyes will put a cap on their fall season on Oct. 24 when they travel to Wilmington, NC for the Landfall Tradition.
