IOWA CITY, IA – Two members of the University of Iowa field hockey team were named to the NCAA all-Tournament team. Senior backs Roz Ellis and Lauren Pfeiffer both were honored for their performances in Iowa’s national semifinal game against Maryland.
Ellis, a team captain from Lewisburg, PA, was a key component for the Hawkeye defense that finished eighth in the nation in goals against average this season. Against the top-seeded Terrapins, Iowa allowed only two goals in 90 minutes to the nation’s second-best scoring offense.
Pfeiffer, who hails from Mt. Laurel, NJ, scored Iowa’s goal in the 2-1 double overtime lost to No. 1 Maryland in the national semifinals. She ranked first on the team in points (44) and goals (20) this season. Pfeiffer now has 53 career goals, ranking her ninth all-time in Hawkeye history.
