IOWA CITY – The Big Ten Network has released its broadcast schedule for both baseball and softball, which includes a total of nine Iowa events. Head Coach Jack Dahm’s baseball team will appear on the BTN five times, with Head Coach Gayle Blevins’ softball squad on four times. All games will be broadcast in high-definition (HD).
“With the network now available to more than 70 million people nationwide, the Big Ten Network is thrilled to give increased national exposure to Big Ten baseball and softball,” network president Mark Silverman said. “We know that fans will especially enjoy watching these games in HD.” Four of Iowa’s five baseball games scheduled to appear will be from Duane Banks Field in Iowa City. Additionally, every Big Ten Tournament game will be televised live on the network. Iowa is one of only three Big Ten baseball teams that will be televised five times during the 2009 regular season. Furthermore, the Hawkeyes are the only conference school to have four home baseball contests televised.
Iowa home games against Indiana (April 11 and April 12) and Michigan State (April 25 and 26) will be televised live to a national cable audience from Iowa City. Iowa’s road game at Northwestern (April 17) will also be televised.
To accommodate television, Iowa’s four televised home games have time changes. The Hawkeyes’ baseball television schedule and updated start times are listed below.
The Hawkeye softball team makes its 2009 BTN debut Wednesday, April 1, when they host Illinois in a doubleheader at Pearl Field. Both games of the twin-bill will be broadcast live on the BTN, with game one starting at 6 p.m. Both games of Iowa’s doubleheader against Northwestern, in Evanston, Wednesday, April 15 will also be aired live, starting at 3 p.m.
