Iowa Head Coach Todd Lickliter
“I thought the different in the game was the last two to three minutes. They were able to drive to the boards and we couldn’t stop them from getting there.”
“It was a heck of a test and we have sure been tested this year in a number of ways. You just have to figure out how to respond to them. A wise guy once said you get bitter or you get better, so we will get better.”
On Devan Bawinkel and Jake Kelly’s Performances
“That’s what he is supposed to do. He had some great looks. Jake had a great game, delivered the ball well.”
“Losing is frustration is at a ten on the scale all the time, it makes me sick.”
Ohio State Head Coach Thad Matta
“We we’re fortunate to come out of there with a win. We knew coming in that this was going to be a battle. I think some guys made plays for us down the stretch. I thought that Bawinkel, Kelly, and Gatens really performed well for Iowa. We were trying to key in on those three guys with our defense late in the game. Regardless, we got the win we came in for and we have to move on.”
On motivating a young team
“When you have a team as young as these two, it’s all about getting better. Normally, with this type of team, you’d come in and practice for 45 minutes and it would be relatively quick. Yesterday, we were in here for an hour and a half of all out practice and we did the same thing on Sunday. We have to keep the focus on trying to find ways to get better.”
