Orange Park, FL – – The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s golf team is in 11th at the Eagle Landing Invitational in Orange Park, FL after the first 36 holes. Iowa carded a team score 625, while Tennessee-Chattanooga leads the 15-team tournament with 583. The Hawkeyes will return to action tomorrow morning for the final 18 holes.
Senior Becky Quinby led the team today firing 76 in both rounds, finishing the day tied for 21st (+8, 152). Florida native, Tyrette Metzendorf, carded 79-74 for a close second on the team (+9, 153) and tied for 27th overall. Brianna Coopman shot 81-78, 159 for the Hawkeyes, followed by Chelsea Harris (82-79, 161) and Alison Cavanaugh (83-81, 164). Coopman, Harris and Cavanaugh are entering tomorrow’s competition tied for 55th, 59th, and 66th, respectively.
Iowa is two strokes ahead of the next team and will work tomorrow to gain strokes on the teams in front of them. Tee times are scheduled to begin between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. (EST).
