The University of Iowa’s women’s tennis team finished day one at the Seminole Quad Tournament. The Hawkeyes recorded two doubles victories and a singles victory.
Sonja Molnar and Lynne Poggensee-Wei defeated Chrissie Seredni and Maria Vallasciani of FIU, 8-3. Jessica Young and Kelcie Klockenga also continued their winning streak by recording a win over Mariana Muci and Magali Holt of FIU, 8-5. Merel Beelen and Zuzi Chmelarova fell to Priscilla Castillo and Maria Spenceley of FIU, 8-5.
Lynne Poggensee-Wei was the only Hawkeye to record a win in singles competition. Poggensee-Wei defeated Myrthe Moleveld of Auburn, 7-5, 7-5.
Doubles competition will resume Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and singles competition is set to start shortly after 1 p.m.
