Rain Suspends Baylor Intercollegiate

DALLAS, TX – The University of Iowa men’s golf team is leading the 2009 Baylor Intercollegiate mid-way through the second round. With heavy rains forcing play to be suspended, the 12-team field will continue Tuesday as the Hawkeyes look to remain in control of the pack. A start time for the resumption of play will be decided Monday evening. The competition is being held at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, TX.

Vince India is leading the field at one-under par. The junior fired a first round of 72 (+1) and is through six holes in his second round. Sophomore Chris Brant is just one-over par after recording a second round of 72 (+1). He is tied for seventh and half-way through his second round. Brad Hopfinger, one of three Hawkeyes in the top-10, is tied for ninth with nine holes left in his second round. The junior carded a 73 (+2) in his opening round and is currently two-over par. Barrett Kelpin is also in the hunt at three-over par with nine holes remaining. The sophomore shot a first round of 75 (+4) and is tied for 18th. Additionally, Brad George is six holes into his second round and tied for 56th. The sophomore carded 79 (+8) first round and is currently 10-over par.

“I felt like we were best prepared for this weather since we’ve been playing in it for two straight weeks,” said Head Coach Mark Hankins. “We got off to a good start this morning and the guys were focused throughout the day.”
