IOWA CITY, IA — The University of Iowa baseball team will kick-off the 2010 season with its first annual Steak Fry tonight at the Bella Sala event center located in Tiffin. This year’s event has a new location and a casual format that includes a meet-and-greet reception.

Tickets can still be purchased at the door for $35 for adults and $5 for kids.

“We are changing the format of what used to be the Lead-Off Dinner this year to make it more kid-friendly,” said Head Coach Jack Dahm. “It’s important to continue to get the youth in the area excited about Iowa baseball.”

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner, silent auctions and student-athlete photos and autographs. At 6:30 p.m. the program will begin with comments from Dahm, introduction of the 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes and a live auction for sports memorabilia; a sampling of the auction items are listed below.

“This event will be more about this year’s team,” added Dahm. “It will be a fun evening for the entire family. This will be an event we plan on building for future years.”

Fans interested in attending are encouraged to register for the Steak Fry by downloading the registration form off hawkeyesports.com or by contacting Iowa Baseball secretary Joyce Rossie at (319) 335-9743. Seating is limited.
