Cy-Hawk Series Continues Sunday at 11 a.m.

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team returns to Iowa City this weekend to host Marquette Friday night (4 p.m.) and Iowa State Sunday (11 a.m.). Live stats can be found on hawkeyesports.com.

PROMOTIONS
Fans attending Friday’s competition will receive schedule posters and TigerHawk keychains. Fans attending Sunday’s contest vs. Iowa State will receive schedule posters and “Go Hawks” scroll signs. All fans will have the opportunity to win a Flat Panel Television by stamping their Iowa Tennis Promotional Card. The more stamps, the greater the chances of winning. Contact the Iowa Sports Marketing Office (319-335-9431) for questions regarding tennis promotions.

THE COMPETITION
Marquette (7-3) is coming off a two-win weekend, defeating Illinois State, 6-1, and UW Green Bay, 7-0. The Golden Eagles are coached by 25-year veteran, Jody Bronson. Iowa State is currently 3-2, recently downing Drake (6-1) and Illinois-Chicago (7-0). The Cyclones are coached by second-year Head Coach Armando Espinosa.

KANSAS ROADTRIP
The Hawkeyes packed their bags and hit the road for the team’s first road trip with first year Head Coach Katie Dougherty last weekend. Iowa traveled to Manhattan, KS to face Kansas State Saturday before continuing on to Lawrence, KS to take on Kansas. Dougherty and the team had a successful first trip together, recording two wins and improving to 3-1.

DORR UNDEFEATED
Junior Alexis Dorr is still perfect on the season, recording her third and fourth wins last weekend. Dorr was the only Hawkeye to down her opponent when Iowa welcomed then No. 6 Notre Dame.

HY-VEE CY-HAWK SERIES
Iowa and Iowa State meet at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex Sunday for the 10th event of the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. The winner of the match will earn two points to count towards their respective university’s total. Iowa State currently leads the competition, 12-7.

IOWA TENNIS BLOG
Iowa tennis fans will be able to follow members of the Hawkeye tennis team as they blog about the 2010 season . The Iowa student-athletes will discuss the Hawkeyes’ upcoming matches, road trips and what it’s like being a student-athlete at the University of Iowa.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes travel to Minneapolis, MN next weekend to take on the Golden Gophers Friday (Feb. 26) and Princeton Saturday (Feb. 27).
