The Hawkeyes raced strong in the varsity 8’s coming in second, Iowa’s boat of Sheila Rinozzi, Emily Vinson, Caitlin Kuempel, Jessica Novack, Emily Katalinich, Megan Erickson, Katy Kroll, Christine Allingham and Allison Robinson finished with a time of 6:46, which was over two seconds faster than the boats morning race. The Hawkeyes second varsity 8 boat finished second in their heat with a time of 6:50.4, which was also faster than their morning time.
“We came back and rowed better than we did in the morning but it wasn’t enough,” said Head Coach Mandi Kowal. “Texas came through with a nice game plan and executed well.”
The Hawkeyes continued the competition with one boat of varsity 4’s. The boat of Emily Melvold, Katherine Radasavich, Chloe Zwiacher, Morgan Finn, and Megan Clancy came in second in the event with a time of 7:45.5.
