IOWA CITY, IA – – Tricia Dean of the University of Iowa field hockey team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team. The honor marks the second straight year Dean has been named to the squad.
Dean, who hails from Bear, DE, started 83 of 84 career games. The midfielder was a four-time recipient of the NFHCA National Academic Award and a two-time academic all-Big Ten honoree. From 2006-08, Dean helped lead Iowa to three straight Big Ten Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances, and the 2008 NCAA Final Four. Additionally, she was named to the Big Ten all-tournament team in 2008. As a senior, the business marketing and management major led the Hawkeyes in points (28) and assists (10).
“Tricia is an exemplary student-athlete,” said Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum. “She has taken her role, on and off the field, very seriously. She has done an outstanding job representing our program the past four years and I am very proud of her accomplishments.”
