FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Play at the ITA Central Regional continued Saturday for the University of Iowa women’s tennis team. Junior Sonja Molnar advanced to the main draw’s quarterfinals and pushed her singles record to 3-0 for the tournament.
Molnar downed Kelsey Sundram of Arkansas 6-4, 6-2. She will square off against a Big Ten opponent in Minnesota’s Natalia Pintusava Sunday in quarterfinal action. Molnar also competed in doubles Saturday, teaming with senior Lynne Poggensee-Wei. The duo defeated Erofeeva/Szatkowska of Tulsa to advance to the quarterfinals of the main draw. In the quarterfinals, Molnar and Poggensee-Wei dropped an 8-1 decision to Minnesota’s Ferrazzi/Palen.
Due to rain, consolation bracket competition was not completed.
Action will continue Sunday at 9:00 a.m. (CT).
