Meet The Hawkeyes: Christina Harazin

Nov. 30, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s tennis program would like to give fans a chance to meet the Hawkeyes new to the team. Christina Harazin is a 5-4 freshman from Indian Head Park, Ill. She joined the Black and Gold in the fall of 2010 after being a four-time all-conference and all-state selection at Lyons Township High School.

Why did you choose the University of Iowa?
“I choose Iowa because I not only loved the tennis program but I also loved the school. The team has really good chemistry and I love Coach Dougherty. I thought all-in-all it was just a good choice for me. “

Favorite thing about the Iowa women’s tennis team?
“I really like the team, how we’re very close and tight-knit. That’s why we’re going to do well this season.”

Future plans after graduating from the University of Iowa?
“I’m not sure right now. I’m majoring in health and human physiology, so hopefully med school.”

What is your best tennis memory?
“I would say my whole junior year of tennis because I made so many good friends and traveled all around the country. It was really fun.”

Who is the tennis player you look up to the most? Why?
“I probably look up to Roger Federer the most right now because he’s achieved so much and he keeps working hard. Even with a loss, he just keeps going.”

Do you have any superstitions?
“I have to listen to the same songs. If I won a match earlier in the day, I have to listen to the same songs I listened to before.”

What are your favorite things to do off the tennis court?
“I like to hang out with my friends and go shopping. Normal things.”

If you could play another sport in college, what would it be? Why?
“I’d probably play soccer because my roommate’s a soccer player. I’ve been hanging out with the soccer team a lot and I think that’d be really fun.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
“I’d definitely go to Greece because I’ve been there a couple of times and I have family from there. It would be really fun to go back, it’s gorgeous.”

If you could meet anyone, who would it be and why?
“Roger Federer, just to see what he’s like.”

What is something you can’t live without?
“My phone.”

What’s on your iPod?
“Pretty much everything, but I’m more of a top 40 person. So, a lot of good music.”
