IOWA CITY, IA –The University of Iowa women’s soccer team kicked off its spring schedule Sunday, hosting Drake in the Bubble. The Hawkeyes shut out the Bulldogs, 6-0.
A slew of Hawkeyes found the back of the next in Sunday’s game. Juniors Alyssa Cosnek and Morgan Showalter each found the target, while sophomores Jade Grimm and Dana Dalrymple tallied a goal each as well. Freshmen Leah DeMoss and Ashley Catrell were the final two Hawkeyes to bury the ball in the back of the net.
Junior Emily Moran played in goal for Iowa, earning the shutout victory.
“Today was a good start to the spring season,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “We are looking forward to a good week of training and then traveling to Nebraska for a game next weekend.”
Iowa hits the road next weekend to compete at future Big Ten opponent Nebraska. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
