AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Iowa women’s rowing team wrapped up competition at the Longhorn Invitational Sunday morning. The Hawkeyes raced Kansas State and collected victories in all four events.
Iowa raced boats in the novice 8’s, varsity 4’s and two boats in the varsity 8’s.
The Hawkeyes earned their first win of the morning in the 1N8 boat with a time of 7:53.8, which was over ten seconds faster than Kansas States boat (8:08.6).
Iowa’s biggest margin of victory came in the 1V4 race. Iowa beat Kansas State 8:54.1-to-9:10.4.
The Hawkeyes would post their last two victories in the V8’s. The 2V8 boat raced first and captured the win 7:32.7-to-7:44.3. Iowa’s 1V8 boat closed out the competition with a 7:23.7-to-7:34.7 victory over Kansas State.
Iowa will return to action at home Sat. March 26 when it hosts Minnesota. The event will take place on Lake McBride in Solon, Iowa.
