Iowa in 4th at Kepler Intercollegiate

Columbus, Ohio – The University of Iowa men’s golf team is in fourth place out of 11 teams after two rounds at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. The Hawkeyes are seven strokes off the lead with a 36-hole team total of 583 (+15). Host team, Ohio State, is currently leading the tournament with a score of 576 (+8). Competition is being held on the par 71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.

Senior Vince India is not only leading the Hawkeyes, but the entire tournament field after Saturday’s play. Currently ranked seventh in the nation as an individual, India began with an opening round even par 71. With just a single bogey in his second round, India rolled in five birdies to post a tournament low round of four-under par 67. His 36-hole total of (-4) 138 gives him a one-stroke lead heading into the final round.

Senior Brad Hopfinger and junior Chris Brant both fired a pair of three-over 74’s. With day one totals of 148 (+6), both student-athletes are tied for 16th. After an opening round of 75 (+4), junior Barrett Kelpin posted a five-over 76 in round two and is currently tied for 30th with a total of 151 (+9). Junior Brad George recorded a two-round score of 152 (+10). The Marion, Iowa, native responded to an opening round of 78 (+7) with a second round at three-over 74, including four birdies.
