Q and A With Boyce and McGraw

Hawkeye goalkeepers Kelsey Boyce (Califon, N.J.) and Kathleen McGraw (Atherton, Calif.) recently sat down with hawkeyesports.com to discuss everything from field hockey to Iowa City restaurants.

If you were cast on a reality TV show, which one would you prefer to be on and why?
McGraw: “I would want to be cast on the Amazing Race because I like to travel and I love a challenge.”
Boyce: “Glee, wouldn’t it be awesome to randomly break out in song on campus and not have people stare?”

Other than Grant Field, what is your favorite place on campus?
McGraw: “The Studio Arts building.”
Boyce: “Learning Center.”

Do you have any hobbies?
McGraw: “In my free time, I am usually drawing or painting. My hands are always covered in some sort of art supply.”
Boyce: “Reading.”

What is your favorite movie?
McGraw: “The Cove. It won best documentary in 2009 and everyone should see it.”
Boyce: “Gladiator.”

What is your favorite food/meal?
McGraw: “Sushi.”
Boyce: “Sushi.”

Who is your favorite professional athlete and what sport do they play?
McGraw:”It’s a toss-up between Picabo Steet (retired alpine skier) or Brian Wilson (closer for the San Francisco Giants).”
Boyce: “Jorge Rafael Posada Villeta, Catcher for the New York Yankees.”

What is your favorite TV show?
McGraw: “Modern Family.”
Boyce: “Parenthood.”

What is playing on your iPod right now/who is your favorite artist?
McGraw: “Either Mumford & Sons or Bon Iver.”
Boyce: “A Little Less Conversation, Johnny Cash.”

Who is the most influential person in your life?
McGraw: “My three sisters.”
Boyce: “George Washington, the Father of Independence.”

Do you have any pregame superstitions?
McGraw: “Superstitions are irrational.”
Boyce: “Dancing in the locker room.”

What is your favorite restaurant in the Iowa City area?
McGraw: “Monica’s.”
Boyce: “Takanami.”

What was the key factor in your recruitment that led you to Iowa City, IA and the Hawkeye field hockey program?
McGraw: “After one look at all of the facilities, I was hooked.”
Boyce: “The Big Ten atmosphere and outstanding facilities.”
